Alappuzha places of visit: International Coir Museum (9:30 AM to 5 PM / Monday closed), Ravi Karunakaran museum (9 AM to 5 PM / Monday closed), Alappuzha lighthouse (9 AM to 11:45 AM & 2 PM to 5:30 PM / Monday closed), Alappuzha beach and local shopping (famous for handicrafts items made of coconut shell, bamboo, cane etc.)

Kovalam places of visit: Kovalam Beach, Vizhinjam lighthouse (10 AM to 1 PM & 2 PM to 6 PM / Monday closed), Sagarika Marine Research Aquarium (9:30 AM to 5 PM), Padmanabhapuram Palace (9 AM to 4:30 PM / closed on Monday).

About Poovar: Poovar was a trading centre of timber, sandalwood, ivory and spices. In around 1000 BCE. This village is almost at the southern tip of Thiruvananthapuram while the next village, Pozhiyoor marks the end of Kerala. Poovar has an estuary that connects with the sea during high tides. The 56 km Neyyar River passes through Neyyattinkara taluk into the Arabian Sea near Poovar.
Poovar places of visit: The Fishing Village (The people of this village make their living solely by fishing in traditional old ways), Padmanabhapuram Palace (9 AM to 4:30 PM / closed on Monday).
